Correction to: npj Sustainable Agriculture https://doi.org/10.1038/s44264-025-00065-1, published online 10 May 2025

In the version of the article initially published, there were errors in Table 1 and in the related descriptive text in the Results and Discussion sections. In Table 1, the values in the “Site 2” column in the sixth and tenth rows should read “72.9” and “14.36” instead of “72.0” and “14.40”; the value in the “Average” column in the second row should read “70.02” instead of “70.52”; the values in the “National extrapolation” column in the seventh, eleventh, and twelfth rows should read “639,833.5”, “132,706.4” and “772,539.9” instead of “1,952,790.5”, “46,669.5” and “1,999,460.0”, respectively. In the Results section, the text “…this would be equivalent to a nutrient removal value of €1.9 million year−1, of which N removal accounts for the most significant proportion (i.e., 97.67%)” has been changed to “…this would be equivalent to a nutrient removal value of €772,539.9 year−1, of which N removal accounts for the most significant proportion (i.e., 82.82%)”. In the Discussion section, the text “…nutrient removal from oyster production would represent a potential benefit of €1.9 million annually to the Irish shellfish sector” has been changed to “…nutrient removal from oyster production would represent a potential benefit of €772,539.9 annually to the Irish shellfish sector”. These typographical corrections do not affect the overall discussion or conclusions of the paper and have been made to the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
